Acute lymphocytic leukemia affects the lymphocytes and cells in the bone marrow that make lymphocytes. Lymphocytes are white blood cells which produce antibodies and which are a vital part of the immune system. ALL symptoms include anemia, fatigue, shortness of breath, and a pale complexion. ALL symptoms also include excessive bruising, cuts that heal slowly or not at all, and recurrent infections, especially of the skin or ear. AML and ALL are diagnosed by taking a sample of blood and bone marrow tissue. |
